Givenchy: Couture Spring 2009
16 February 2009Haute couture Week in Paris proves that Riccardo Tisci - main Givenchy designer - has reached great progress. His new collection is so strong and exciting, but …nevertheless it does not even corresponds haute couture standard, which has been already defined by John Galliano and Karl Lagerfeld. Riccardo Tisci was so much inspired by creations of 19 century master Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema and dancing suits of German dancer Pina Bausch.
For example, Riccardo Tisci used the same element in his show - he has covered all podiums with flower petals: similar themes can be seen in Alma-Tadema’s “Hand bells” or Pina Bausch’s “Carnation” collection. Many models look very interesting: Tisci has effectively connected grandeur and naive romanticism. However, unfortunately, and this time he has decided to use his favorite theme - a bandage.
